Before I embarked on my year abroad in Japan, I got a bunch of my female Japanese friends together and asked them for advice. This of course included advice on meeting and interacting with Japanese women. One of them said I should get a bright pink shirt and iron on a huge Hello Kitty with along with the slogan "I [Heart] Kitty-chan !!!" (Kitty-chan of course being what they call it here). It might not scream masculinity, she reasoned, but it would get me noticed, and would make it virtually impossible for me to seem threatening...
Yeah...right...
Despite the fact that she was probably joking, remind me to thank her for that advice...it actually turned out to be some of the most effective stuff I got that night...
Just thought I'd share (and it's almost on topic...)...
