- Apple - sale on loads of gear, $101 off MacBook, save cash on iPods, you name it!

shouldn't best buy be it's own bullet point?
TimmyJ @ Nov 24th 2006 1:37PM
nice that you can get some black friday deals without getting up at 3am and waiting in line for half of your day.
ed @ Nov 24th 2006 1:38PM
What is it with Black Friday? Us Brits don't have anything like this. You better prices than we do all year, so why so much cheaper for one day?
metal @ Nov 24th 2006 1:55PM
no offense engadget crew but posting black friday deals at 121 pm just doesnt cut it these days. I was driving by bestbuy thanksgiving day to check out my odds and at 3 pm there was already 20 + people lined up outside. To me that means that a useful blackfriday post is 2 days before the event at least. about half the stuff listed is in store only, and the other half starts online at 5 am and is already sold out.
Ryan Block @ Nov 24th 2006 1:59PM
Sure is a good thing that most of these deals are online, and don't require you to leave the house!
Paul @ Nov 24th 2006 2:27PM
The previous two years I had camped outside bestbuy with a group of friends, twas not to be this year. I had planned on going up at 9:00 pm, I got a call from a guy I knew who got their earlier and he said at 7:00 there were 38 people in line, when I called him back 15 minutes later the number was up to 42... So, I decided that with so many people in line the laptops were as good as gone, so I called it off for me, and got a good night of sleep before splurging.

Apparently stores can sue if a website posts prices from ads before the sale happens.
Aaron @ Nov 24th 2006 2:41PM
Not to mention there are areas of the US where someone can walk in a store and find these deals and it could be useful for those people. I am not in that boat anymore but personally I like to see what I am missing by keeping my walled stapled to my pants.
Nelson @ Nov 24th 2006 2:23PM
Engadget where have you been for the last month? The Best Buy 7 hour sale ended at 12 noon, in store, and the online BF deals went live last night at around 9pm, and were all sold out in a matter of minutes. I drove around to 4 best buys last night between 1-2am and they ALL had over 100 people in line already. Might have helped to have this post like...last week or something. Better luck next time!

Engadget, publishing these Black Friday deals at 1PM on Black Friday is like recently finding there were no WMDs in Iraq. Too frickin' late! =D
StammesOpfer @ Nov 24th 2006 2:53PM
Well woots are always a great deal but today was one that I had to take advantage of because I think i am the last person in the world without an mp3 player well that is the case no more
Billy @ Nov 24th 2006 2:53PM
What a bunch of whiny spoiled brats you all are.
apeguero @ Nov 24th 2006 3:03PM
Engadget has been reporting on black Friday deals well before today. If you just noticed them now then you must have not been visting this site for the past couple of weeks.
Did you all see the price of that 42" in Microcenter? $799.99? Wow. Too bad I have a Sony WEVA 36" 200lb monster which still works just fine. Hopefully the 1080p Plasmas will drop below $1300.00 soon so I can get rid of my current TV.
On my way home last night (1:00 AM EST), there was a 2 mile backup on the highway leading to a big outlet mall in Wrentham, MA, because the parking lot of this thing, which is freekin' huge, was full to capacity. People, 1:00 AM, pouring rain, I495 North and South, backups of 2 miles each way, and that place wasn't opening until after 6:00 AM. Talk about Hell!
John @ Nov 24th 2006 3:18PM
In Franklin MA here the Wrentham outlets opened at 12 AM last night. I didn't go but my family did it was a mess
Brian @ Nov 24th 2006 3:05PM
Also, on the buy.com deals you get free shipping and $20 off if you use Google Checkout, so it's really $180 for a creative vision: m.
perfectionist @ Nov 24th 2006 3:12PM
*ahem* The Best Buy deal on a 42" plasma for $1,000 (in store only) is actually the same Panasonic plasma TV going for $1,200 at CC.
Dan @ Nov 24th 2006 3:18PM
Got a great 52" Panasonic Rear Projection LCD for 1,000 bucks, watching LSU vs. Arkansas in OTA HD goodness now.
Mike Panic @ Nov 24th 2006 3:31PM
Olympus 8MP Evolt E-500 w/ 2 lenses (refurb) for $499 w/ free shipping
I don't think you'll see any dslr's w/ lenses for cheaper then that.
theonetheonly @ Nov 24th 2006 3:32PM
These deals really make me wish I was living in the States!
Mike Panic @ Nov 24th 2006 3:32PM
Whoops, forgot the URL - http://www.ilikecheapstuff.com/2006/11/olympus-e-500-evolt-two-lens-kits_24.html
for above deal.
kaibeezy @ Nov 24th 2006 3:36PM
.
any sense of how much lower prices might get AFTER xmas?
i just want to get a new, not too big tv, but i'm not in a hurry - saw a 32" on microcenter for $369 - not being a cheapskate, just don't need the craziness and can wait a couple more weeks
.
nik @ Nov 24th 2006 3:58PM
don't bother with overstock.com. i was informed that the 12% discount did NOT include "media items", like the xbox... ;( man, i'm pi$$ed.
jowo123 @ Nov 24th 2006 4:24PM
just add in some non media item like a pda case and it will work
misha69 @ Nov 24th 2006 3:59PM
Dumb question, I know ...
I haven't bought an Xbox 360 and am still using my original Xbox. My Live sub just ran out. Can I buy this Camera + Gold bundle for $40 from Amazon, use the Gold code to renew my Live sub, then when I do get a 360 use the camera and Gold membership on it?
emax @ Nov 24th 2006 5:52PM
I am in the same position, but I am going to go ahead with the purchase. All of the 12-Month renewal cards are simply a code to resubscribe, and because accounts can span an Xbox 1 and Xbox 360, I don't see why it wouldn't work. Obviously, the arcade games and camera wouldn't work until you get a 360. The only potential problem I see is in getting the 200 microsoft points. It might not show up if the code is used on an original Xbox, however there is a chance it will, and it is worth all of $2.50 anyways.
andrew harrison @ Nov 24th 2006 4:29PM
Apple Australia are having this sale on December 1st [because we don't have thanksgiving]
Jose A. Perez @ Nov 24th 2006 4:34PM
Good set of deals
MASA @ Nov 24th 2006 4:54PM
That overstock offer would make the xbox 360 core about 264 dollars.
JayP @ Nov 24th 2006 5:56PM
cant wait till the "New Year" sales to come
:D
Todd @ Nov 24th 2006 7:00PM
The XBOX 360 Live Vision Bundle apparently sold out because it's now $65 and sold from Office Depot. I was able to snag one at $40 though...
M L Rine @ Nov 24th 2006 7:01PM
Thanks for posting this info. Engadget has become the 'go to' site for everything cool. Thanks for all you do.
Dave C @ Nov 24th 2006 7:31PM
Looks like the Live/Vision combo has ended. Sons of...

I rolled to Bestbuy last night at 9pm and there was well over 50 people with tents and the whole deal. I wanted the Panasonic 42" plasma. Instead I headed over to Magnolia who was having the same deal. I got there at 5:30am, and when the manager came out he went down the line giving away vouchers for the plasma. He gave the last ticket to the dude standing in line in front of me ... so no plasma for me this x-mas :(
Lake Niel @ Nov 7th 2007 4:48PM
Last year Black Friday, I went to Magolia store by my house is San Ramon, CA at 5:00am be the fifth person in line for the 60" Projector. When the store manager open up at 7:00, he said 60" Projectors are sold. I asked him how can that happened, he said there were only 3, and the vouchers were given the people who were in line since 2:00am. To me, This is a big wast of time and a lie! I don't think anyone were there at 2:00am. And if someone were there, they should have put up the sign or announcement at the door. I will never shop at Magnolia again in my life and will tell all my friends about their dirty BlackFriday tactic. Only wasting people time!
Rory @ Nov 25th 2006 4:07PM
I actually got a 42" Samsung DLP TV for $999 at CC earlier in the week - I was worried about the deal being beat by Black Friday sales, but it seems it was only bested by a few no name plasmas (I guess the Philips isn't a no-name, but their TV's also have a bad reputation for crapping out as soon as the warranty is up) and I didn't have to put up with the madness of waiting in line.
buzz @ Nov 29th 2006 9:42PM
Futuresheet.com is trying to pull together a grass-roots survey on how well Robosapiens have sold for Black Friday. WowWee has put a lot of cash into marketing Robosapien II. Are people buying??
If they don't start buying, and RS Media isn't successfull, I think Robosapien 3 ain't happening. Comment on their survey if you're a worker at Best Buy or something, or actually saw people purchasing Robosapiens.
