Radio-controlled airgun picks off unsuspecting rodents, children
While it's no big deal when militaries establish sentry gun perimeters to protect their own backyard, crafting a slightly less dangerous version for your own property deserves its share of credit. While USB rocket launchers (even ones with lasers) are fairly potent at livening up your mundane office environment, their short range (and harmless nature) won't do you much good if you've got rodents (or mischievous kids) rummaging around your grasslands. Enter the RC Airgun, a remote controlled shooter that can be dictated from afar to take out any unsuspecting trespassers whenever you deem worthy. While details of its construction are scant, we certainly applaud the engineering efforts here, so be sure to click on for a few more pics, or hit the read link for some sweet video action.

Engineering is appreciated... but usefulness.. hmmm.. isn't there something less violent and more precise.. what if it's your cat? or your dog?
Isn't there something like a sound that only rodents can hear or maybe just maybe.. a mousetrap?

HTML went wonky, we're working it out, sorry!

Hey RC means Radio Controlled not Remote Controlled. And that thing has an antenna (see pic 2) so it is Radio Controlled.

This was made two or three years ago and has motion tracking: http://www.thesentrygun.com/

What is it actually shooting? BBs? Pellets? Whatever it was, it was (eventually) puncturing that paper in the video.
If it's motion-tracking, I'd love to have one to keep the neighborhood kids from cutting across my freakin' grass. Though, the way kids are these days, that might actually ATTRACT the Jackass-watching crowd.
Matt @ Nov 30th 2006 10:53AM
It was shooting 6mm plastic BBs
heres a pic of some

There's a motion activated sprinkler at Lee Valley that might work.

Guns, guns guns. Shoot, shoot, shoot !
Totally insane !

Step 1: build one of these
Step 2: Attach to iRobot Create
Step 3: $$Profit$$$$

"isn't there something less violent and more precise."
Violence is ALWAYS the answer!

Iam the guy who made this particular "system" we'll call it. It is a $17 "Airsoft" gun from walmart with a Castle Creations Pixie speed control, an 8 cell NiMh battery and a 5 channel reciever. The laser is a $2.00 laser pointer from the dollar store. If you have any questions, get in touch with me on www.rcgroups.com. My user name there is Lmopar69.
